Random Cryptocoin |

DNotes (NOTE) is a decentralised, open-source cryptocurrency forked from Litecoin in February 2014. Compared to its parent, it has only a few minor modifications, such as the use of Kimoto's Gravity Well (patched for the "time warp" issue), a total supply of 500 million coins, and an annual 5% block reward reduction for coin miners. Besides developing the cryptocurrency, the project has also launched a number of unique initiatives; this includes attempts to attract more women to the cryptocurrency world by giving away free DNotes, programs offering solutions for student debt, and provisions of various savings incentives for the unbanked, children, and retirees. DistroWatch.com - BitKey |

BitKey is a FREE, Debian-based live Linux distribution designed for Bitcoin users; it comes with specialist utilities to perform highly secure air-gapped Bitcoin transactions. It contains a swiss army knife of handy Bitcoin tools that support a wide range of usage models, including a few very secure ones which would otherwise be difficult to perform. The system boots into one of the three available modes: "cold-offline" - for creating a wallet and signing transactions; "cold-online" - for watching the wallet and preparing transactions; "hot-online" - standard usage but less secure as the private keys are known to the computer which is connected to the internet.

Did You Know? | The hashrate is the measuring unit of the processing power used to perform energy-intensive computations to maintain the Bitcoin network (or the network of any "mined" cryptocurrency). It is commonly expressed in gigahertz per second (GHz/s). As an example, a hashrate of 1 GHz/s means that the combined Bitcoin network of connected computers is capable of making one billion calculations per second. In the first quarter of 2015 the Bitcoin network's hash rate oscillated around the 350,000,000 GHz/s mark, thus performing 350 quadrillion calculations every second. In contrast, the hashrate of Litecoin, the second most popular cryptocurrency, stood at around 1,200 GHz/s - just 0.0003% of Bitcoin's hashrate.
