Random Cryptocoin |

Netcoin (NET) is a decentralised, open-source cryptocurrency forked from Litecoin and Peercoin in September 2013. Originally it was a pure proof-of-work currency with scrypt as its hashing algorithm, but later the project added a custom proof-of-stake mechanism which it called Personal Investment Rate (PIR). This was meant to increase Netcoin's adoption and savings rate as "stakers" were awarded NET coins based on the number of coins already present in their wallets. As a further incentive to keep the network healthy, Netcoin has implemented what it calls Open Wallet Incentive (OWI), a declining rate of reward for those wallet users who do not stake. DistroWatch.com - BitKey |

BitKey is a FREE, Debian-based live Linux distribution designed for Bitcoin users; it comes with specialist utilities to perform highly secure air-gapped Bitcoin transactions. It contains a swiss army knife of handy Bitcoin tools that support a wide range of usage models, including a few very secure ones which would otherwise be difficult to perform. The system boots into one of the three available modes: "cold-offline" - for creating a wallet and signing transactions; "cold-online" - for watching the wallet and preparing transactions; "hot-online" - standard usage but less secure as the private keys are known to the computer which is connected to the internet.

Did You Know? | Like any software, Bitcoin too is subject to security flaws unwittingly introduced by the project's developers. The first (and so far the last) serious vulnerability was discovered in August 2010. A transaction verification bug in the Bitcoin protocol allowed users to bypass the cryptocurrency's coin-generation restrictions and create an indefinite number of bitcoins. The vulnerability was exploited on August 15 when over 184 billion bitcoins were generated in a transaction and sent to two addresses on the network. The problem was dealt with promptly - within hours, the bug was fixed, the transaction erased and the network forked to an updated version of the Bitcoin protocol. This was the only major security flaw found and exploited in Bitcoin's history.

Karol Tomala has announced the release of Brass Golem 0.17.0, a major software update from the project whose goal is to build a global, open-sourced and decentralised supercomputer that would provide a sharing economy of computing power. Users of the network receive payments in Golem (GNT), a cryptocurrency token issued on the Ethereum network. Version 0.17 is a mandatory upgrade: "We are glad to introduce our latest major release, Brass Golem beta 0.17.0. In this iteration, we are introducing Netmasking to improve the robustness of Golem's networking layer and prevent the requestors from getting flooded with too many providers' requests. In addition, we have updated our Blender verification library to reduce the number of false negatives during the verification stage. Finally, we added a new task list to the user interface. Changelog: update docker toolbox version; improve geth support; use actual gas price for fee calculation; improve Golem's Smart Contracts interface; improve handling of users' GNT funds in certain edge case scenarios; add better gas cost estimation for ETH withdrawals; add support for Concent Additional Verification use case; add Concent ForcePayment acceptance tests...." See the release announcement and release notes for more details. Download: golem-0.17.0-linux.tar.gz (171MB), golem-0.17.0-macOS.tar.gz (89.5MB), golem-0.17.0-windows.exe (593MB). About Golem
Golem (GNT) is a cryptocurrency token issued on the Ethereum network by the project of the same name. The goal of the Golem project is to build a global, open-sourced and decentralised supercomputer. It describes itself as the "Airbnb of computing", a decentralized sharing economy of computing power where anyone can make money "renting out" their computers or developing and selling software. Unlike many popular cryptocurrencies, Golem is not mined or staked; instead, the entire complement of 1 billion tokens, of which 18% were reserved for the project's founders and developers, were issued at the launch. Cryptocurrency Release: Golem (GNT) 0.19.0 |
Karol Tomala has announced the release of Brass Golem 0.19.0, the latest stable version of the software powering the project's open-source and decentralised supercomputer and its sharing economy of computing power. Its token, Golem (GNT), is used to reward participating clients. Brass Golem 0.19.0 delivers a new "marketplace", among other new features: "We're excited and ready to introduce our newest production rollout - Brass Golem beta 0.19.0. In this new release, we're bringing two main features: the new providers' marketplace and the long-awaited migration to 'Docker for Windows' as a replacement for the previous 'Docker Toolbox' for Windows users. A short explanation on the new marketplace: in our previous versions, the prices were basically set by the requestors. Providers were only able to set the lowest amount per task they would be willing to work for and then the requestors would just accept any and all offers that made it to them first. With the new marketplace, the accent has been shifted to the providers who are given the option to compete with others with both their prices and reputation." Cryptocurrency Release: Golem (GNT) 0.18.0 |
A new release of Brass Golem, version 0.18.0, was announced earlier today. Golem is a project whose goal is to build a global, open-source and decentralised supercomputer which would provide a sharing economy of computing power, with the Golem (GNT) token used to reward the individual clients. "We are stoked to present a new major update for Brass Golem - 0.18.0. This new update comes with all kinds of goodies, the most prominent of which is the one all of us have been waiting eagerly for - GPU rendering support. For the moment, GPU support is limited to NVIDIA GPUs only, it requires patience and perseverance to set up and works specifically on Linux and using bleeding-edge NVIDIA drivers (version 396 and up) but once configured, it should be able to give those underutilized graphic cards some work to do. To further improve your Golem experience, we have fixed the issue with the VirtualBox driver, that we heard was still affecting some of you during both the initial installation and upgrades on Windows." Cryptocurrency Release: Golem (GNT) 0.16.0 |
Marek Franciszkiewicz has announced the release of Brass Golem 0.16.0, a new version of the software behind the Golem (GNT) cryptocurrency token issued on the Ethereum network. The project's goal is to build a global, open-sourced and decentralised supercomputer that would provide a sharing economy of computing power where anyone can make money "renting out" computers. This version is still labeled as a "beta" build: "Brass Golem beta 0.16.0. Changelog: different, optimized cryptographic methods for message signing and serializing; new additional settings for choosing providers based on their performance; updated Terms of Use; possibility to define the number of samples per pixel in Blender scenes; improved verification metrics for comparing images; more friendly CLI options results, eg. 'golemcli res show' or 'golemcli task subtasks'; modified runtime environment configurations; GNT is converted to GNTB as soon as possible - in previous versions, GNT was automatically converted to GNTB when it was necessary, ie. when a user was trying to add a new task, but from now on, we'll be doing the conversion earlier, right when we have enough ETH to cover the gas price; bug fixes and optimizations." Here are the brief release notes as published on the project's GitHub page. Download: golem-0.16.0-linux.tar.gz (171MB), golem-0.16.0-macOS.tar.gz (88.9MB), golem-0.16.0-windows.exe (580MB).
